About FreeNetLaw
Our Mission
FreeNetLaw exists to make legal information accessible to everyone. Too often, basic legal facts — like how long you have to file a lawsuit, what your rights are as a tenant, or how to file a consumer complaint — are locked behind expensive lawyer consultations or buried in confusing government websites.
We compile data from federal and state government sources and present it in a clear, searchable format. No paywalls. No accounts required. No legal jargon without explanation.
Our Data Sources
FreeNetLaw draws from publicly available government databases:
- Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) — Consumer Complaint Database with 14+ million complaints
- Legal Services Corporation (LSC) — Legal aid organization data and eviction law databases
- State legislatures and court systems — Statutes, court rules, and procedural information
- Federal Trade Commission (FTC) — Consumer fraud and robocall data
- U.S. Census Bureau — Population data for per-capita calculations
All data is refreshed weekly to ensure accuracy. We cite our sources on every page.
Editorial Standards
Legal information is sensitive. People make real decisions based on what they read. We hold ourselves to a high standard:
- Every factual claim is backed by a government source or statute citation.
- We clearly distinguish between data (objective facts) and guidance (our interpretation).
- We prominently disclaim that we do not provide legal advice.
- We encourage readers to consult a licensed attorney for their specific situation.
- We do not editorialize about companies — we present the data and let readers draw conclusions.
What We Are Not
FreeNetLaw is not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice, and nothing on this site creates an attorney-client relationship. We are an information resource, similar to a legal encyclopedia or reference desk at a public library.
